I am a huge football and baseball fan. ESPN is my main source for info. They have great programs. They have great experts. Or do they?

Last year (2007) at the beginning of the football season I heard alot of predictions on superbowls and division championships. All during the season I heard weekly predictions from the Swami and all the insiders and decided to check their prediction percentages and compare their deviations from spread predictions.

I played Yahoo's pro football pick'em and finished 300 out of about 400,000. So how hard can it be?

My findings are that these experts are just picking the winners based on the spread and when they do deviate, they are not accurate.

They pick champions based on ratings and sensationalism and entertainment value. I'm kind of ok with this since they are on TV and need to stay on TV. But to me, a person is successful when they are right and when they see things that others do not and succeed as a result.

So... Lets find out who the experts really are and who is saying the blah blah with the blah blah.

The purpose of this blog is to hold these experts accountable for their predictions, test them against time and compare them against easily obtained information such as spreads.

I'll also be adding the results from some studies I've completed and probably be adding some insights or ideas for future studies.
