Two Real Bad Plays in College Football
Bad**** College**** Play 1:
(5)Florida vs Miami
1:05 left to go in the game
Gators up 23-3 on the Miami 10
They kick a field goal. Huh?
Florida obviously did it for the spread. They were winning by 20 and the spread closed at 21.5.
Brent Mussberger said Florida had to do it because the rankings are a beauty contest. Well maybe if they didn't do it it wouldn't be a beauty contest.
Three additional points to rub Miami's face in it is not beautiful.
I just hope Miami can come back over the next few years and return the favor.
Bad**** College**** Play 2:
(15)BYU vs Washington
Jake Locker scores with 0:02 left on the clock to hopefully tie the game with the extra point, flings the ball in the air and hugs his teammates.
Whoa, the refs say unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yards, "Now let's see you make that extra point".
The rule says you can't throw the ball high in the air and the refs were only doing what the rule says.
Applying rules to the letter is the sanctuary of the stupid. This was hardly showboating.
Use some common sense guys and interpret the rule.
Totally ridiculous call. Poor Washington.
At least they didn't let BYU cover the 9 point spread.
