The GVG Report

I am currently studying the NFL to see how the spread can help me pick straight-up winners for my office and Yahoo NFL Pick'em pools. I collected NFL data for this year and last year and sorted everything based on: 1. Home favorite or Visiting favorite 2. Location. As in a western teams, central teams and eastern teams. 3. Spread. Every 3 points became a category.

Now I know this game was played yesterday, but I'm including it for a complete list for week 16.

1. Colts at Jaguars.  Take Colts Visiting favorite Central to East time zone with a spread between 5 - 7 points. This has a record of 4-0 (100%) and a margin of victory 16.75 points. Colts won and the margin was 7 points.

2. Ravens at Cowboys.  Take Cowboys Home favorite East to Central time zone with a spread between 4 - 6 points. This has a record of 5-1 (83%) and a margin of victory 10.17 points

3. Bengals at Browns. Toss up. East to East with a spread between 2 - 4 points. This has a record of 18 -19  (49%) margin of victory 9.65 points.

4. Saints at Lions.  Take Saints Visiting favorite  East to Central with a spread between 6 - 8 points. This has a record of  6-0 (100%) and a margin of victory 13.83 points.

5. Dolphins at Chiefs.  Toss up. East to Central  with a spread between 3 - 5 points. This has a record of 5-7 (42%) and a margin of victory 8.25 points.

6. Falcons at Vikings.  Take Vikings Home favorite  East to Central  with a spread between 3 - 5 points. This has a record of 10-5 (67%) and a margin of victory 8.00 points.

7. Cardinals at Patriots.  Take Patriots Home favorite  West to East with a spread between 7 - 9 points. This has a record of 7-1 (87%) and a margin of victory 13.00 points.

8. Panthers at Giants.  Toss up. East to East with a spread between 2 - 4 points. This has a record of 18-19 (49%) and a margin of victory 9.65 points

9. Niners at Rams.  Toss up. West to Central  with a spread between 5 - 7 points. This has a record of 1-1 (50%) and a margin of victory 4.00 points.

10. Steelers at Titans.  Take Steelers Visiting favorite  East to East  with a spread between 1 - 3 points. This has a record of 14-8 (64%) and a margin of victory 10.95 points.

11. Eagles at Redskins.  Take Eagles Visiting favorite  East to East  with a spread between 4 - 6 points. This has a record of 4-2 (67%) and a margin of victory 12.50 points.

12. Bills at Broncos.  Take Broncos Home favorite  East to Central  with a spread between 6 - 8 points. This has a record of 4-1 (80%) and a margin of victory 9.00 points.

13. Texans at Raiders.  Toss up. No data available for a Central to West Visiting favorite and a spread between 6 - 8 points.

14. Jets at Seahawks.  Toss up with a spread between 4 - 6 points. This has a record of 3-2 (60%) margin of victory 8.00 points.

15. Chargers at Bucs.  Take Bucs Home favorite  West to East  with a spread between 3 - 5 points. This has a record of 10-3 (77%) and a margin of victory 10.23 points.

16. Packers at Bears.  Take Bears Home favorite  Central to Central  with a spread between 3 - 5 points. This has a record of 9-5 (64%) and a margin of victory 15.07 points.

Six games are very evenly matched so lets see how we do with the other nine games.
