Let's take a look at the BCS. Who is in, who will probably be in and who might be in.

The BCS eligibility rules:

A. These champions automatically qualify for a BCS game:

• Atlantic Coast (Boston**** ****College**** ranked 17th, Virginia Tech ranked 25th)  (very weak)

• Big Ten (Penn**** ****State**** 8th)

• Big 12 (Missouri, Oklahoma**** 2nd)

• Big East (Cincinnati**** 13th) (very weak)

• Pac-10 (Oregon State, Southern**** California**** 5th)

• Southeastern Conferences (Alabama, Florida**** 4th)

B. In addition, four at-large berths are available.

The highest-ranked conference champion from among these conferences earns a guaranteed berth in one of the BCS games if that champion is ranked 12th or better in the final BCS standings or is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS standings and its ranking is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth.

• Conference USA (nobody)

• Mid-American (maybe Ball State ranked 12th)

• Mountain West (probably ****Utah**** ranked 6th)

• Sun Belt (nobody)

• Western Athletic Conferences (Maybe Boise State ranked 9th)

Note: No conference may place more than two teams in the BCS games unless the conference has two teams in the National Championship Game and neither team is its champion.

C. In addition to those 7 teams, the pool of teams remaining under consideration also includes (in alphabetical order):

• Ball State (Mid-American Conference)

• Boise State (Western Athletic Conferences)

• Ohio State (Big Ten)

• Oklahoma State (Big 12)

• Texas**** 3rd (Big 12)

• TCU (Mountain West)

• Texas Tech (Big 12)

There are three Big 12 teams, but only one more can go. I think it will be Texas so Texas Tech is out.

Plus either Alabama or Florida will be here too. Since Florida will win the SEC (they are favored by 9.5), Alabama will get an At-Large bid.

That means the last bid will go to either Boise State (9), Ohio State (10), TCU (11) or Ball State (12)

Ohio State is much better that any of the others but there is very little representation from the west. I will pick Ohio**** ****State but don’t be surprised if Boise State gets the chump nod.
