Did Boise St Really Beat Virginia Tech?
Did Boise St really beat Virginia Tech?
According to the refs they did. But with 2:00 to go in the game and Boise St down by 4, Virginia Tech punted and on the return there was a clipping call against Boise St that would have set them back deep in their own territory.
But wait, miraculously the call gets overturned so Boise St can have better field position near the 50. Boise St passes to the sidelines and Virginia Tech gets called for a personal foul hitting out of bounds that puts Boise at the 15. This was a ridiculous weak call and was thrown way to easily. The refs could have held the flag and no one would have noticed. No surprise that Boise St scored, the points were handed to them.
Virginia Tech gets the ball back with 1:09 and they take two deep passes. Both had defensive interference on them but no flags were thrown. Those calls would have put VT in scoring range to at least tie the game. The easy flag just became harder to throw when it was against Boise St.
The only question now is who is going to play Boise St in the BCS championship game on Jan 10th at 8:30 in Glendale Arizona?
